Hello and welcome.

As is usual on the blogs I read I think it best to give a short introduction- I've been gaming for more years than I can remember and enjoyed every minute of it. The games have been varied, good and bad and so have my opponents, mostly good but as in every hobby there's been a couple of right plonkers on the way. Now that I'm progressing in years I need something to jog my memory to the games I enjoy, hence this blog. It'll be a personal record of the hobby element to my life, if anyone else enjoys it then I'll be a happy chap.

The emphasis of my gaming life has shifted once more to Games Workshop, this time though it's to 40k. I spent many a long year gaming Fantasy and still have a couple of decent sized armies that I'm not going to part with. GW have now 'progressed' -if that's the word! onto Age of Sigmar, hence my shift into 40k- 'nuff said. The 40k games we have are small, 1850 to 2000poits in size, just enough for a nights gaming. There may be bigger battles in the future and if so then I'll post pictures. I intend to post pictures of our weekly battles but a long write up is something I don't have the time to do. If you like pictures you may like what follows. Firstly though I'm going to record the units I have in place, all painted and based by yours truly, a lot of these were painted years ago during my first foray into 40k and rebased to fit my new stuff.

First Squad

One of my favourite heavy weapons carriers, the blind mutated autocannon.

Second Squad
I don't always use the standards but it's nice to have the option.

My Aspiring Champions are armed with Power Fists and Plasma Pistols. The chaotic element to a plasma pistol is fun, self inflicted wound on a roll of '1' to hit is always fun, I've lost count of the times my guys have died firing plasmas!

Heavy weapons that I can interchange into the squads or use as Devastators.

Word Bearers shoulder pad is evident on the rocket launcher marine.

My Chapter is based on the Word Bearers Legion, I like the background and 'fluff' behind it, the idea of marines mutating into beasts and Daemons appeals to the modelling side of me. The purity seals on the models are strips of paper cut to size and a blob of bluetac sealed with super glue and painted accordingly. When I started these the base colour for the Word Bearers chapter was a deep blood red, over the years GW has changed this to a darker red with steel grey shoulder pads, I've kept my original colour scheme as I'm quite happy with it.
